The Labour Party has been, since its founding in the early 20th century, the principal political party of the left in England, Scotland and Wales. It is currently the party of government in the United Kingdom, the largest party in the Welsh Assembly and holds the the London mayoralty (although only the second largest grouping on the London Assembly). It is also the second largest party in the Scottish Parliament, in UK Local Government and among the UK parties in the European Parliament.
